Kobe jump for a shot on a night he scored 62 points |
December 20, 2005, Kobe Bryant scored 62 points in three
quarters, before sitting out the fourth quarter. He had 15 points in the
first period, 17 in the second, and a franchise-record 30 in the third,
when the Lakers enjoyed a 95-61 lead over the Dallas Mavericks, his hot hand still had the power to excite the league a day later.
"I just kept attacking, kept attacking," Bryant told reporters. "I didn't really know what was going on.
"It's
crazy, it's crazy. I'm just very fortunate and very blessed to be able
to have those type of games. They don't come along very often, so it's a
thrill to be a part of something like that."
Bryant's 30 points
in the third quarter were the fourth highest for a quarter in N.B.A.
history. Bryant's previous game high also came in three quarters, a
victory over Memphis in 2002 when he scored 56 points.
