David Robinson scored for 71 points to wrap up the 1994 NBA scoring title
David Robinson was ready to punctuate his 1993-94 scoring title with a mammoth 71-point effort against the Los Angeles Clippers. The career night enabled him to join George Gervin as the only players in Spurs history to claim an NBA scoring title and finishing with a season average Robinson finished at 29.787 while Shaquille O’Neal by an average 29.346 points per game.

Despite being double- and triple-teamed for much of the game, Robinson toyed with the weak defensive efforts of the Clippers in leading a convincing victory.

“It was unbelievable,”Robinson told the Associated Press after the game. “My team has been behind me the whole year. They always push me to do a lot of individual things. As a leader, I just try to win games, but tonight they really wanted me to shoot it. When the game started they were looking for me almost every time down the court.”
